Meet Foster...
On December 13, ARF met Foster. This poor little guy was rescued from the Standoff First Nations community, just outside of Calgary. Found with both of his back legs broken, Foster was most likely hit by a car.
In the last few weeks Foster has sure been busy, having surgery on both of his injured legs! One leg was fitted with a plate and screws, while the other leg required a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO), a procedure used to salvage the broken leg, while helping to reduce pain. And, since the surgery Foster has been doing great, getting used to his new surroundings and his new humans.
Foster is doing well around new people and has even gotten used to his new feline roommate. He does quite well around new dogs, standing quietly as they sniff him, but will occasionally snap (one aspect of his colourful personality that is being worked on). At first, Foster was NOT a fan of the car, but he is coming around to the idea. Eating is definitely not a problem for Foster, and much of his kennel time is spent munching on delicious high calorie treats! Foster does not have accidents in the house, very impressive for only being rescued a few short weeks ago.
This little man has been through a lot. But, despite his injuries and surgeries, Foster is a happy and affectionate dog, who does not want anyone feeling sorry for him. He thinks he can do just about anything! In the future (hopefully nearer than distant), Foster will be a great addition to the right household and will make someone a great buddy!
You can help. ARF does everything it can to help a dog or cat once rescued. Foster’s vet bills will not be cheap. Foster has received a lot of medical care and potential further problems could require more. This cost will not be incurred by Foster’s adoptive family, but will be paid for by ARF. ARF is a registered charity, run almost entirely by volunteers, reliant on donations. You can help Foster, and other dogs and cats like him, by donating here. ARF thanks you, and more importantly, so does Foster.
