3508F: Rain

An ARF Special.

Hi! My name is Rain and I'm a very sweet girl and have been looking for a forever home for far too long. It’s not my fault... I am just scared of humans and sometimes don’t make the best first impression. If allowed to meet people at my own pace I warm up quickly and soon turn into a cuddly kiss machine.

I am currently living in a calm, quiet foster home and as a result, I am calm, quiet, and well-behaved! I have nice house manners and enjoy just chilling out with my people (preferably on the couch!). And I'm always up for some cuddling and belly rubs.

I am an active girl with lots of energy, so someone who will to be active with me would be perfect! Walking, running, hiking, agility, you name it- I'll love it! I LOVE running at the off leash park, and make doggie friends easily, although I sometimes come on a little strong for more timid dogs. I can’t help it, this girl just wants to have FUN! Have I mentioned that I'm really smart? I listen and follow instructions so well, and I can sit, lie down, shake-a-paw, high-five, catch treats mid-air, speak on command and all that fun stuff! I learn very quickly.

While I am great with other dogs in a neutral setting, in my home I can become possessive and therefore, I should go to an experienced home that can work with me. And because I'm sometimes a nervous girl who is startled by loud noises, fast movements, and unpredictable surroundings, I'd also like to go to a home without children and with a confident handler who knows how to deal with my insecurities.

Currently I am meeting once a week with a trainer to work on my people skills. The trainer is willing to work with my new family to show them everything I know and to help me live up to my full potential.

3762M: Knight

A Heinz 57.

Hello everyone, I'm your Knight in shining armour! I love to play with other dogs. I have energy to burn all day long! I love my walks, I'm a little stubborn sometimes but I walk well on a leash. I stick very close to my foster family when we are down at the off leash park. Let's do a check list at the things I've accomplished so far shall we!

  • Walking on a leash - Check!
  • Staying close to my foster mom at the off leash park - Check!
  • Kennel Trained - Check!
  • House Trained - Check!
  • Play well with other dogs - Check!
  • Get along well with children - Check!
  • Chew what I'm supposed to - Check!
  • Basic commands (come and sit) - Check!

I do get along well with children, however there are some points where I am a bit scared. They have to go slow around me at first until I get use to them. I love nap times as well, they help keep me going throughout the day. I'm a handsome little duffer who loves to cuddle anytime. So if your looking for lots of love and companionship and a great furry friend for a couple or the whole family, I'm your pup!! Come meet me some time, I love meeting new and exciting humans!

3776F: Boo

A Black & Tan Pup.

I am sweet, quiet puppy. My colouring is dark brown and caramel. When you first meet me, you will have to give me a little time to warm up. However, once I know you, I will snuggle in your arms and give you lovely kisses. A favourite activity of mine is to sit under the kitchen table and watch. I also like to explore the back yard and chase my brother. I am quite smart (I figured out how to get treats from the treat ball in seconds).

I live with my brother, Evan, older and younger foster sisters, and a cat. I really get along with older dog in the household. I will play with her a little, but leave her alone when she needs a break. Also, I am very respectful of cats.

My housetraining is pretty good. Just let me outside every 2 hours, and there will be no accidents. I really enjoy my crate. Sometimes during the day I will go in my crate for a little “me time.” At night, I sleep in my crate for 7 hours. I do not bark, and so far, I am not interested in chewing.

If you have a quiet home and are looking for a lovely puppy, you will enjoy me.

3793M: Jake

A Heinz 57.

I have a little face you can not resist and a personality to match. My foster mom and dad think I am well behaved for such a little guy; I already sit when asked, and I sleep through the night in my crate. I would love my forever parent(s) to continue my training and give me cuddles and lots of love. So don't be long - I'm waiting for you.

3794M: Tex

A Heinz 57.

Breaking news from Tex,

You could call me Mister Snuggle Bug because that's just what I'm all about. One big black bundle of pure love. Mom says I'm very gentle with a sweet disposition (I think that's good). I really like car rides especially when we go to the park. I even like kids and cats!! What more could you want???

3795F: Allie

A Heinz 57.

Hi this is Allie girl. Just an update on me cause I am so darn special. My foster mom says I'm very smart, and I'm the best sleeper in the whole family… right through the night. I really like my kennel, treats, walks and even the off leash park. My favourite game is to hide under beds an play the SURPRISE game!! I'm a fast runner and love to play chase with my brother in the yard. I need and want someone to love me forever... could it be you????

3796M: Twist

A Heinz 57.

My name is Twist because I have a twist of black in my tail. What is amazing about me is my beautiful soft, cinnamon coloured fur. I am a friendly guy who enjoys being around people. I need to be in an active household, but I also need time and attention. I like to play with balls and toys that squeak.

I live with other foster dogs, a older dog, a younger dog, and a cat. I really gravitate towards younger dogs who like to play. To me, the older dog and cat that I live with are uninteresting.

My housetraining is coming along great. I am time trained, but do have the occasional accident. I have worked hard at learning to chew the right things. Sometimes I forget and need a quick reminder. I have also had to work hard at learning to sleep in a crate. Now, I sleep in my crate all night long.

I am actually just a big baby. What I love most is to lie back in my foster mom’s arms and have my tummy rubbed. It is the best way to end the day.

3798M: Comet

A Heinz 57.

Hi, I’m Comet! I’m a cute, very cuddly ball of fur who will melt your heart in a matter of minutes. I love playing with my toys and running around in the snow! I’m still learning the ropes of being a dog though. I am catching on to housetraining very well and am already asking to go outside. I’m learning how to sit and lie down. I have had my first few nights in a crate and I am learning that it is actually a pretty cool place for me to sleep! My foster home has cats, and I have learned to respect them and keep my distance. I’m also not afraid of the vacuum cleaner – in fact I tried to play with it! Cars are also pretty scary to me right now, but with more and more exposure I will learn that they are okay.

3799M: Gnasher

A Heinz 57.

We’re going on a bear hunt, we're going to catch a big one! Just kidding! Hi, I’m Gnasher and unlike my namesake (Dennis the Menace’s dog,) I am an adorable pup who just looks like a little black bear cub. Like my brother Simba, I love to sleep in my crate, which is much, much warmer than a drafty old cave. My house manners are coming along great and I also love my cuddles after a busy day of playing with my brother and exploring my foster home. So you don’t have to go to the mountains to go on a bear hunt, you can just come into PetSmart to meet me for a BIG bear hug!

3800M: Oliver

A Heinz 57.

Hi!!! I'm Oliver, and I'm very handsome and a cute puppy and yes, I hear this comment from a lot of people who see me. I'm very playful and have tons of energy, so I'm looking for a family who will spend lots of time with me by taking me for long walks and play tug of war with me! I'm not fussy when it comes to toys, I love them all and I've learned that I'm supposed to chew these toys rather than my foster mummy and daddy's slippers (they are so tempting though). I live with my foster mom and dad and there is also a little human foster sister whom I like to play with. Another favorite hobby of mine is EATING!!! I love my food and treats, and I always will sit before I get my food. I already know my name and know how to sit without any treats. I'm pretty smart eh??!! Stay tuned as I will be learning more neat tricks!

Potty training is coming along well. I know to go to the back door when I have to go outside, and I've only had couple of small accidents.

My foster mummy and daddy are so proud of me because I'm already crate trained and I sleep throughout the night. I know how to go inside my crate by myself when I'm tired but sometimes I just love to lie on my big blanket in the kitchen. Come see me!!!!

3801F: Molly

A Heinz 57.

I'm the Pet of the Week!

Oh my goodness! You'd never believe how far I've come since I became an ARF dog at the end of November.

First of all, I'm smaller than I look in the pictures. I'm just a medium-sized, red gal who has recently discovered what it's like to be loved.

I live with 2 other dogs who like to play with me and we have fun together. I'm still getting used to the playful side of me but so far it's pretty cool. Most of my time I like to keep an eye on my foster mom, but stay out of the way. If she seems bored then I let her know she should be petting me. When my foster family come home, I wait patiently in my kennel until they let me out. Then I get super excited but I sit and wait until they pet me. Although I can't stop wiggling from the excitement, I know I should wait my turn because they have to greet 3 of us. Sometimes I chew on stuffed animals but I'm not really sure what they're for yet. My favourite chews are antlers and bully sticks. These keep me pretty busy when we're not on our walks. When I'm really looking for some love then I'll rest my paw on your arm to let you know.

I don't mind my kennel but when I'm alone I can get a little nervous. My family is helping me with that, though. They're also helping me get better on car rides as I still shake a little on them. I am a bit scared of new dogs at first, however, I have made friends with all the dogs in my life. Sometimes unexpected sounds scare me, but I'm getting better. The walks are really helping me with my confidence!

I'm still looking for my forever family, if you think it could be you then fill out an application!

3802F: Zoey

A Heinz 57.

Zoey has been with ARF since the end of November and is doing so well, we thought it would be a good time for an update!

If you read her initial story, Zoey was going through a lot of firsts when she moved into her foster home, and it was pretty overwhelming for her. Well, if you met her now, you would never know she spent her first 3 years living outside!

The once scary car, has turned into an adventure ride! She enjoys hanging out in the back seat and watching the scenery go by. Even when she is not in the car, she loves to watch the lights go by from a distance and often wants to run after them, though of course, she doesn't get the chance.

Zoey also enjoys hanging out inside with or without the other dogs. She respects her human friend's home and has never once peed on the floor or been destructive. She politely stays off the couches and beds, even when she sees her foster brothers on the furniture.

Her crate has become her haven. What an amazing thing to see a dog love her crate so much! She sleeps there every night with the door wide open. At night, she will come up to the bedroom as if saying good night, and then heads downstairs to her crate for the whole night.

During the day, when her human friends are busy at work, Zoey hangs out in the kitchen with her toys. When the coats go on and the keys come out, Zoey heads to her crate as well, though we are sure she does not stay there all day as her toys are always moved around. When we get home, she is so excited and greets us at the door.

Zoey's favorite pass time is now walking, and she is very well behaved at the off leash park. She has also learned to share the love from her human friends and has stop being so protective of the attention she gets.

Her foster brothers and her have a ton of fun together, showing that she can adjust well to other dogs, and has done extremely well meeting strangers at PetSmart or in her current home.

What a gem! Come meet her at PetSmart! Her pups are usually there too! (3796M, 3797M, 3798M, 3799M, 3800M)

3803F: Lily

A Puff-ball.

Hi! My name is Lily.

I'm so very fluffy, adorable, outgoing, confident, can't forget to mention smart, sweet and full of personality. I am sleeping in my crate all night with very little peeps to start. I mastered the doggie door very quickly, so I'm off on the right start for house training. It definitely helps having four other big foster pups to help me do right. You definitely need a sense of humor to have me around. I'm a little cheeky and can be vocal while playing.

I am learning the basic commands sit, down, come, and wait. I love my cookies and will be a great puppy for lots of training and activities (you know, because I'm a smartie). Come visit me at PetSmart and feel the Fluff.

3804F: Calla

A Puff-ball.

Calla is a wonderful pup. She has a very gentle temperament. She is very respectful, soft and calm in her approach. At present she is living with two large dogs, two cats, and two kids. She is comfortable and at ease with them all. Calla is wonderful with our kids, especially our youngest who is just starting to crawl as she loves spending time with him on the floor following him around. She loves being close to our kids and would rather curl up with you than rough house. She prefers to sleep in an exercise pen than a crate, mostly because she does get hot in the house do to her abundance of flowing hair! We are brushing her daily to get her used to a grooming routine, so far she really loves getting brushed. Calla is fabulous with her food having no problem with other dogs or kids around while she is eating. She has recently started sleeping through the night but is still working on house training. Calla does let you know when she needs to go out, but you have to watch for her cues.

3808F: Pocket

A Ginger Gal.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Pocket! Foxy Pocket! But you can just call me Pocket. I am sly like a fox, and stealthy like a pickpocket. I am a quiet, cuddly pup who prefers being inside to outside. But I do go outside to do my business, and rarely mess inside. I am crate trained, and I am trying to get comfortable with the leash. I am submissive and playful, and at the same time curious and adventurous. I love people, and appreciate the attention of children. Other dogs are great, also. I have never seen a cat, so I can’t say how I’ll react to them. I can think of better things to do than bathing, or getting my nails cut. I have just lost my bottom baby canine teeth and I take my time eating because my mouth is sore. It makes me feel better when I get a belly rub. I don’t bite hands, nor do I chew what I shouldn’t. My family is important to me, and I promise to greet you with a wagging tail and a sparkle in my eyes everyday.
